The Hewlett Packard OfficeJet line of printers is for office use. The HP Officejet 6310 Color Flatbed All-in-One features, Prints Up to 30 ppm black, 24 ppm color, Copies Up to 30 cpm black, 24 cpm color, Scans Up to 2400-dpi resolution, Faxes Up to 33.6Kbps.
I was looking for a printer that could do a decent job of photo printing and it had to have auto-document-feed scanner and network interface. That rules out Epson. I considered a colour laser printer but to get these features on a colour laser printer would have cost 4 times as much.
This multifunction device’s copier runs at speeds up to 30 ppm in black and 24 ppm in color and at resolutions up to 600×1200 dpi in black and 4800×1200 dpi in color.
Hewlett Packard OfficeJet Printer - HP 5610V This one is more than a printer, it is also a fax, scanner and copier and in addition to printing on regular paper, it prints on transparencies, photo paper, labels and envelopes.
HP 6310 All-In-one Officejet Printer This is another multi function unit that can print 30 pages a minute in black and white and 24 per minute in color.

HP Officejet H470wf Mobile Printer This one is portable and weighs just 5 pounds and comes with an adapter for wireless printing. It prints up to 22 pages per minute in black and 18 pages per minute in color.
Printing the nonsensical 200 word document in fast draft produces 16ppm and these are rather spat out, the more normal 1500 word offering spread over four pages come out at 12ppm, both these are rather noisy and still well below the claimed speed but the print is clear, sharp and very black.
Build is strong enough for a home printer or a small office where people are good to their machines.

Sticky CD labels are problematic on many levels. Now manufacturers are coming out with inkjet printers that print directly onto CDs. Here is how you can find an inkjet printer that prints on CDs.
Inkjet CD printing is based on the same inkjet printing technology that made low cost monochrome and color printing possible for the home PC market. These CD printers use special ink cartridges to print on the surface of inkjet printable media. Cartridges are available for single color, as well as full 4 color CD printing.
It’s generally cheaper to buy printable inkjet media than to buy both media and labels. While the printer might represent an additional expense, you need a printer to print labels anyway, a media-capable printer actually costs about the same as a better inkjet printer.
An automated CD printer connected to one computer can produce up to 100 CDs per hour. As an administrator, you need to do two main things so users throughout a network can access print devices connected to a Microsoft Windows 2000 workstation or server, you need to set up a workstation or server as a print server, and you need to use the print server to share print devices on the network.
If your printer is set up as a network printer, switch to Bridged networking (http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-2527), disable Printers Sharing in VM Settings, and configure the network printer directly in the Windows virtual machine.
Two different types of printers are available in the lab for personal computer print jobs: network printers and attached printers. Network printers are faster and more reliable, you must be signed onto the network in order to use the network printers. About half of the computers have attached printers.
We have about 80 printers, all either directly on the network or connected to Axis, HP, and Intel print servers. I recently converted our print spooler from a BSD (lpd) system to the Solaris print service (lpsched). If the driver or printer is listed as Host Based, the printer will not work with a central print server.

Their latest introduction is the entry level monochrome laser printer, i-SENSYS LBP3100. The manufacturer claims that the printer is an energy and space saver along with top notch basic operations.
The printer offers a maximum printing resolution of 600 X 600 dpi which is standard for mono laser printers. With a monthly duty cycle of 5000 pages/month, this printer will be restricted to homes and small offices. Printing speed is above average at 16ppm. The printer comes with a single 150-page tray, the absence of a second tray is notable.
While other laser printers range at an excess of 30 dB, LBP3100 stands tall at a mere 6 dB.

The X342n Multifunction Laser Printer is Lexmark’s cheapest multifunction unit, at $399. It prints, copies, and faxesonly black ink documents. if you don’t need the fax but want color printing capability, the X500n provides this for $100 more.
Lexmark manages to blend the lines of the printer and scanner better than some in the multifunction market, but mainly because the laser print engine is a substantial device in its own right. It’s a two man lift and with the four, colour toner cartridges mounted vertically at the front, sits quite high off the desk.
A single function color inkjet, the HP Officejet Pro K5400 ably fills a small niche in the small and medium size office arenas. Low cost, fast prints, and high quality text make this a great printer for offices on a budget who don’t have high volume printing needs but want the ability to print color graphics and photos.
The spec sheet claims that this thing will print up to 17ppm in black (letter) and 3ppm in color with a maximum effective resolution of 2400 x 600 dpi. Text quality of the X342n was decent for a low end printer, but it was not quite as sharp and crisp as some mid range laser printers, such as the HP Color Laserjet 3600n. Scans were not great, displaying very undersaturated colors.
Network Interface is a standard ethernet network interface that allows for sharing the printer on your home or office network.
The Lexmark C500n is a fast color laser printer fit for a multiuser environment with high volume printing needs. The competition offers more features, but slower printing or lower quality prints.
Long on design and short on features, the Samsung SCX 4500 multifunction laser printer is best suited for light home or office use. Unless you’re willing to pay for a showcase printer (two words we’ve never seen next to one another), your money will buy you more features and faster task speeds elsewhere.

This article tells how to repair many types of paper jamming in laser printers and copiers. When a copier or laser printer’s control panel declares, “paper jam” and there’s not a single piece of paper anywhere in the printer, you’re left wondering where’s the paper jam. After the machine commands a piece of paper to be sent from the paper tray it expects the paper to arrive at a sensor within a specific time. If the paper doesn’t arrive, the machine assumes it got jammed somewhere along the paper path, and it announces “paper jam.”
If you frequently have “paper jam” messages without any paper in the paper path, you’ve probably got a worn out or dirty pickup roller.
Most HP LaserJets display the error code 13 for paper jams. It starts with 0 at the paper pickup area, so a 13.0 message means the paper never arrived at the first sensor. There’s usually one at every bend in the paper path. The problem is either a bad sensor or some physical blockage of the paper path. The other type of sensor is optical - the paper breaks a light beam.
