What To Expect From Cd Printers?

Sticky CD labels are problematic on many levels. Now manufacturers are coming out with inkjet printers that print directly onto CDs. Here is how you can find an inkjet printer that prints on CDs.

Inkjet CD printing is based on the same inkjet printing technology that made low cost monochrome and color printing possible for the home PC market. These CD printers use special ink cartridges to print on the surface of inkjet printable media. Cartridges are available for single color, as well as full 4 color CD printing.

It’s generally cheaper to buy printable inkjet media than to buy both media and labels. While the printer might represent an additional expense, you need a printer to print labels anyway, a media-capable printer actually costs about the same as a better inkjet printer.

An automated CD printer connected to one computer can produce up to 100 CDs per hour. There is also an option of an automatic fast gravity-feed loading system that loads the CDs into the printer for continuous printing. Connecting up to five printers to one computer would allow five discs to print simultaneously.

Thermal Retransfer CD DVD Printers delivers photo realistic printing quality. Like normal thermal printing, it uses heat transfer and ribbon technology, but with one added step. It works by printing the color image to an interim ribbon, which is then used to print to the actual disk.

You want an inkjet printer that functions as a normal printer and has the ability to print CDs. Stand-alone, dedicated CD printers are probably not what you want.

White is great for most applications, although some people prefer a silver base to print digital photos and other images to disc.

Insert inkjet printable DVD/CD media facing up to the printers CD/DVD tray and print. You may need to switch the paper feed of your printer from auto to manual.) Many DVD/CD printers are able to handle printing on mini DVD/CD media as well.

You can modify firmware and hardware on some printers to allow them to print CDs. The Canon Pixma is one such printer that can be modified.

Not all printers are created equal. To work with printable media, you need a CD/DVD printable printer. hether you plan to print on CDs frequently or once in a while, our hardware section includes a selection of CD printers and CD publishers.
